This course is intended for workers that enter confined spaces such as manholes, crawl spaces, and tanks.  Employees that work in confined spaces face life-threatening hazards including toxic substances, electrocutions, explosions, and asphyxiation.  This course will give workers the knowledge to identify a confined space and how to safely work in it.  Topics covered in this course include,

  • Identifying permit-required confined spaces in the workplace
  • Preventing unauthorized entry into confined spaces
  • Protecting authorized entrants from hazards through permit space programs
  • Understanding the definition of a confined space and a permit-required confined space
  • Identifying hazards associated with working in permit spaces
  • General rules and responsibilities of the authorized entrant, attendant, and entry supervisor
  • The role of the emergency rescue team
