This course is designed for employees on excavation job sites. Class attendants learn the basics of OSHA excavation regulations (29 CFR 1926-Subpart P) and learn to identify the hazards associated with trenching. Attendees also learn soil testing techniques and how to use the soil information obtained to determine the correct protective system needed. Topics covered in this course include,
- Specific excavation requirements
- Soil classification
- Trench box requirements
- Sloping & benching systems
- Proper selection of protective systems
A student manual and relevant handouts will be given to all class participants.
